ABOUT THE AWARDS
he Cine Annual Golden Eagle Film and Video Competition is a highly prestigious and competitive international festival, the winners of which are also eligible for the Academy Award. The festival is forty one years old, and in 1999 over two thousand entries were received. The winners are voted on by a jury panel of top industry professionals.
Artist on the Attack's production of In the Dark won the Cine Golden Eagle in 1999, beating entries from HBO, Showtime, and numerous other main stream networks and cable producers. Winners of the award are chosen to represent the United States in other international festivals. Worldfest Houston International Film Festival is 33 years old, and is a 10-day event, with substantial prestige in the industry. In 2000, Worldfest received over 4,300 submissions from 33 countries, and was attended by over 30,000 visitors. Films were reviewed and judged by a panel of six prominent entertainment industry professionals. Previous winners have included Jonathan Demme, Martin Brest, the Coen brothers, John Sayles as well as David Lynch.
